- can run at speeds up to 40 mph
- only grazing animal to have both upper and lower incisors that snip grass blades instead of yanking them up
- have an extra layer of fat occurring only under the black stripes that can get up to 18 degrees hotter than the white stripes
- sleep in turns so that some herd members are always awake
- newborns move with the herd within one hour of birth
- migrating zebra groups will adjust their speed to accommodate the slowest member of the herd
