Brights Zoo is a privately owned zoo. Therefore, the zoo does not receive state, local or federal funding of any kind. All admissions proceeds goes directly towards caring for the animals and upkeep of the zoo. This includes animal housing, appropriate diet, veterinary care, new exhibit and design for all maintenance of the facility.

- Run in herds, usually 8-15 per herd
- If not in thick cover they become nocturnal
- 10-14 vertical, parallel, white stripes on flanks.
- The name Nyala is the Swahili name for this antelope, which itself comes from the Zulu "Inyala". -
