Beginning in 2008, we opened the gates for School Tours of our facility. This half-day excursion is designed to educate children of any grade level about pivotal issues concerning the support and welfare of animals everywhere. The education program is divided into four different areas of emphasis.

- Bactrian camels have two humps
- camel humps are filled with fat, not water
- can run at speeds up to 40 mph
- can drink up to 32 gallons of water at a time
- have split upper lip for grabbing leaves and bark from trees
- have two large toes that spread apart for easy travel over shifting sand
- Bactrian camels were domesticated over 4,500 years ago in Bactria (near present-day Iran)
