Brights Zoo is a privately owned zoo. Therefore, the zoo does not receive state, local or federal funding of any kind. All admissions proceeds goes directly towards caring for the animals and upkeep of the zoo. This includes animal housing, appropriate diet, veterinary care, new exhibit and design for all maintenance of the facility.

- Also known as Blue-and-yellow Macaw.
- Uses its powerful beak for breaking nutshells, and also for climbing up and hanging from trees.
- The parents will raise only the strongest chick, leaving the others to starve to death.
- The Blue-and-gold Macaw is considered to be the most beautiful of all parrot species.
- Macaws often gather at clay licks to eat mineral and salt bearing clay, which is found on river banks.
