All admissions proceeds goes directly towards caring for the animals and upkeep of the zoo. This includes animal housing, appropriate diet, veterinary care, new exhibit and design for all maintenance of the facility.

Number of Young: 1-8 (3-4 typical)

- "Sounders" typically contain 2-15 females and young attended by a male.
- Rest in self-dug burrows during the day.
- When frightened, the striped piglets crouch and "play possum".
- Red river hogs have excellent hearing and can even detect the underground movement of an earthworm.
- Red river hogs are fast runners and good swimmers.
